Wool batting made from 100% Czech sheep wool, available by the metre for creative and artistic projects.
 
This thin felted material has a beautiful natural texture. It is warm, provides good insulation and helps absorb sound. However, as it is not resistant to tension, it is not suitable for stressed seams, load-bearing parts or structural elements. It works beautifully wherever a surface, layering, softness or protection is needed.
 
This version is suitable as an ecological filling for garments and various types of lightweight quilting and interior textiles.

As the material does not fray, it is ideal for raw, unfinished cut edges.
 
This type of wool material is also suitable for wrapping young trees over winter to protect them from browsing wildlife.
 
How to use the wool batting in clothing
 
The wool is processed using carding technology, and naturally protruding fibre ends may, over time, work their way through the outer fabric and cause slight irritation for people with sensitive skin. At 250 g/m², however, this wool batting is very unlikely to cause irritation, if any.
 
When used in quilted garments, we recommend incorporating the wool as part of a “sandwich” — placing it between two densely woven fabrics or membrane fabrics. As sheep wool processed without chemical treatments remains breathable, we recommend using natural fabrics for these layers whenever possible.
 
This does not apply to interior textile products, where the material can be used according to your own creative approach.
 
The material may contain small traces of plant matter, which are a natural sign of gentle processing.

After unpacking your order
 
The box will usually be full of wool — and its natural scent. Simply unfold the wool materials at home. If they have lost some of their volume during transport, they will soon regain it.
 
Creases caused by transportation can be quickly relaxed using steam from an iron. Do not iron the material directly. Set the iron to its lowest temperature and hold it approximately 2 cm above the wool while releasing steam.
 
For a slower, entirely natural process, simply lay the material flat and leave it undisturbed. The process works especially well near an open window during rainy weather, when the wool fibres absorb moisture from the air and naturally regain their shape.
 
Care
 
Wool batting from Czech sheep wool should be aired regularly and may be refreshed with steam. We recommend airing unused wool batting as well.
 
Minor stains on wool that has already been incorporated into a product can be treated locally with a damp cloth and gall soap or an ecological wool detergent. The water temperature should not exceed 25–30°C. Do not wring. Gently press the water out with your hands.
 
It can also be washed on an extra-gentle wool cycle at a maximum of 30°C. Do not use fabric softener.
 
Lay the material flat on a towel and allow it to dry thoroughly away from direct sunlight.
 
If the material needs to be smoothed, place a damp cloth over it and gently press with a steam iron. Do not iron directly.
 
For heavy soiling, we recommend professional dry cleaning by a cleaner experienced in caring for natural wool materials.
